Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) Complaint Policy

Effective Date: January 1, 2025

 

ACS Security / Alert 360 (“Company”) operates Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) systems on certain public streets to enhance community safety, deter criminal activity, and assist law enforcement with investigations.

 

We are committed to ensuring that the collection, use, and retention of ALPR information complies with applicable laws, including the California Civil Code, and that the rights of individuals are respected.

How to Submit a Complaint

Any individual who believes that our ALPR system has been misused, that inaccurate information has been generated, or that their privacy rights have been violated may file a complaint.

 

Complaints may be submitted in the following ways:

  • By Phone: 866-222-0032, option 6

When submitting a complaint, please include:

  • Your full name & contact information
  • Date, time, & location of the incident (if known)
  • A description of your concern or suspected misuse

Complaint Review Process

 

  1. Acknowledgment – Complaints will be acknowledged within 5 business days.
  2. Investigation – All complaints will be investigated by our ALPR Compliance Officer or designee.
  3. Resolution – A written response will be provided within 30 calendar days whenever possible. If more time is required, we will notify you of the expected timeline.
  4. Corrective Action – If a violation or misuse is confirmed, corrective action will be taken, which may include system adjustments, retraining of personnel, or coordination with law enforcement.

Privacy & Data Protections

  • ALPR data is used solely for legitimate security & law enforcement purposes.
  • Data is retained and destroyed in compliance with California Civil Code §1798.90.51.
  • Access to ALPR information is restricted to authorized personnel who have completed training on privacy & security safeguards.
  • Misuse of ALPR data is strictly prohibited and may result in disciplinary action and/or referral to law enforcement.

Appeals

If you are dissatisfied with the resolution of your complaint, you may request an appeal by submitting a written request within 15 days of receiving our response. Appeals will be reviewed by senior management.
